The “Do It Yourself” Class—for Actors

Creating self - auditions and demo reels

Jan 25 – Feb 8, 6:30 – 8:00, ages 17 +, Online

Part 1: Creating Successful Video Auditions from Home

Lisa Fairchild and Kim Titus, Jan 25-Feb 1, 6:30 – 8:00

Actors are being asked, with more and more frequency, to submit video auditions for TV, commercials and film. We need to be able to produce these at the drop of a hat, on our own and from our own homes. And—they need to look good so that the focus is on us and not the poor quality of an audition tape.

Veteran actors Lisa Fairchild and Kim Titus will lead a two session class highlighting the skills needed to turn your home and any recording equipment you have, including cell phones, into high quality auditions. From lighting and sound, to slating, to what you should wear and how to send your auditions, come learn from the best.

Part 2:  How to Create your own Reel: An Overview

Douglas Davidson, Feb 8, 6:30-8:00

While so many work opportunities have halted and social distancing is still required, what’s an actor to do? Prepare, of course!

Since actors are being asked to be more technically self-sufficient, why not use the time to create your own demo reel--a must for any actor who wishes to pursue work in film.

Douglas Davidson will present an overview of what you need to know to create a high quality demo reel, including using everyday locations and equipment in our homes. You will learn how to choose material that will show your strengths and diversity as an actor. Learn the basics for producing a high quality reel, filming it yourself or hiring a videographer.
