The Wizard of Oz

Musical Theatre Production | 2nd-6th Grade. Embark on a magical journey to Oz in this exciting new class/production hybrid. Young actors will dive headfirst into creating the show—experiencing auditions and character development, script analysis, staging, and choreography. The iconic characters of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion will come to life in a fully staged production for the public on April 19th & 20th. Dress Rehearsal & Performances APR 19, 20 and 21.

Musical Theatre Skills

Sing, Dance, Act | 7th Grade & Up. Are you ready to get serious about musical theatre? In this skills based class, students will explore choreography, vocal technique, and acting each week. Teens receive guidance and one-on-one coaching as they build their personal repertoire of audition songs. The movement portion focuses on building competency with common musical theatre dance vocabulary, and growing confidence in a typical dance audition setting. Parents are invited to observe the last class of the semester on April 1st. No class Mar 11.

Improvisation Class | 6th Grade & Up. Have fun and exercise your creativity while developing invaluable mental focus and public speaking skills! Students will learn both short and long form improvisation exercises. Led by an experienced and skillful teacher, this class encourages the development of performance skills in an engaging, dynamic and supportive environment. Final sharing for family & friends on April 9th.

Animation Onstage | 6th Grade & Up. Explore theater through monologues, songs, dances, and scenes from classic animated movies. All classes consist of warmup/core strengthening, basic dance choreography, vocal technique and acting/performance. This is a positive, inclusive space for all skill and comfort levels. Our goal is to inspire a love of performing arts and build confidence in students. This class satisfies an Art, Speech, or PE credit. Family and friends are invited to a final in-class sharing on April 3rd. No class Mar 13.

The Day the Crayons Quit ​| K–2nd Grade. Join us as we create a musical based on the beloved children’s book series by Drew Daywalt! Each week, students will bring an exciting, colorful world to life through games, dance lessons, songs, storytime, and imagination exercises. This playful introduction to theatre invites our youngest artists to develop vital life skills like focus, patience, listening, and self-expression. Family and friends are invited to an end of semester in-class sharing on April 3rd. No Class Mar 13.

Creative Storytelling | 3rd-6th Grade. Explore the timeless art of storytelling! Through interactive activities and supportive guidance, students craft compelling narratives from their personal experiences. They will learn about the power of metaphor, dive into characters, and discover inspiration and meaning by embracing and sharing their own unique stories. Family and friends are invited to an end of semester in-class sharing on March 27th.

Stage West Teen Troupe

Advanced Theatre Arts | 8th Grade & Up. We are excited to offer this new comprehensive class for teens who are aiming to become more skillful and well-rounded theatre artists. Students receive guidance from a team of top industry professionals and elite teachers to improve every essential aspect of their craft. The curated units include: Movement for Actors with Sasha Maya Ada, Character Creation with Alejandro Saucedo, Art of the Monologue with Parker Gray, Improv with Leslie Marie Collins, Playwriting with Rob Bosquez, Voice Workshop with Sarah Gay, and Reflection & Goal Setting with Aaron Dias. No class Mar 13. Registration is open to Stage West Teen Troupe members from previous semesters, and students 8th grade & up with at least one semester of theatre experience. Students enrolled in this class will receive priority registration for Stage West’s 2024 Summer Teen Conservatory. Email education@stagewest.org with questions.
